Folks - a wild ride tonight for Timber Unity and our endorsed candidates.
Here's what we know so far....
We SOLIDLY are winning the coast. Key seats where our members worked hard were won tonight.
We flipped HD 32 - the Tiffiny Mitchell seat is going to Suzanne Weber.
We flipped HD 9 - the Caddy Mckeown seat is going to Boomer Wright.
We flipped SD 5 - it's close, but as of right now, the Roblan seat is going for Republican Dick Anderson. These two seats in the House mean that Democrats in Salem mean that Dems didn't win a quorum-proof majority.
We also got our Lily Morgan going into the House from Josephine County.
We are flipping Columbia County tonight. Casey Garrett's race is up...but that one is tight. Margaret Magruder SOLIDLY won re-election.
Our very own Angelita Sanchez was the top vote-getter in her Sweet Home City Council race. And TU member Dylan Richards won a slot too.
In Clackamas County, our candidate Mark Shull is down by 10,000 votes. BUT....Clackamas County elections has mechanical problem with one of their envelope machines, which means that they stopped counting for the night and there are over 100,000 ballots there left to be tabulated. (NOTE: WE FLIPPED CLACKAMAS WHEN IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE).
Many of our incumbent House and Senate members won re-election.
On almost no money, and a race we think the Salem insiders should have paid attention to, Max Sherman - gave Gomberg a run for his money. We'll be back for that seat in two years.
We are down 200k votes for our wonderful SOS candidate Kim Thatcher - but there are still a lot of ballots there. We love her for standing up for us and stepping in to run.
If everything holds.....in this entire election cycle..... This is TWO flipped house seats. One flipped senate seat. THREE flipped county commissions and 1 County chair flip, with the possibility to still flip Clackamas County. We also held the Marion Commission seat conservative with Danielle Bethell in the WIN column. And our little city council races won too.
YOU DID THIS.
Consultants can consult. Lobbyist can spend money. But YOUR grassroots efforts have made these wins possible. It's a start. We won't win everything on the first try, but the voter returns CLEARLY show - you all made the difference.
All the new voters. All the voters who woke up this cycle. This is the start of something bold and better to slowly bring back some sanity to our state. THANK YOU from your entire Timber Unity Board. Your contributions also made us one of the largest grassroots donors in Oregon this cycle.
We sleep tomorrow....then we start again.
